General Information
Although this granite Island is located some 20 km to the northwest of the Similan Islands, Koh Bon is still considered to be part of the Similan national park. The favorite divesite here is the western ridge of the Island which falls steeply to a depth of about 35 - 40 meters.
Current
Varies from moderate to strong. In particular, current fluctuations occur close to the ridge which sometimes creates strong down wells.
Marine Life
This site is a cleaning station for Manta rays, so there is a big chance to find them here. Koh Bon also has many kinds of different sharks including Leopard sharks and White and Black tip sharks. Sometimes Bamboo and Nurse sharks are hiding under rocky outcrops so keep your eyes open. Several schools of Barracuda, Trevallies and tuna are in mid water as well. You are likely to see Sea snakes, Octopus and Cuttlefish.
