The islands of Komodo and Rinca belong to about 90 islands that lie in between the larger islands of Sumbawa and Flores along the Nusa Tenggara. The park is most famous for the Komodo Dragon.The multiple islands and relatively shallow seas between Flores and Komodo lead sometimes to extremely strong currents at tidal changes.The water in the south of Komodo is usually colder than in the north. Coral cover in the north is less colourful than in the south, but visibility better. The best time to dive is from late October to early May.
