General Information
Maya Bay is a beautiful bay on Phi Phi Ley Island and famous for it's part in the movie "The Beach". Many liveaboard boats come to here for their nightdives. Underwater it is a shallow gently sloping bay with clear water and an abundance of marine life. In the shallow areas between 5-10 meters there are lot's of hard and soft corals and in the deeper areas between 20-30 meters large boulders build valleys and swim-throughs.
Current
Currents are weak to mild due to the restricted water movements in the bay.
Marine Life
Cuttlefish, Octopus and Squid are often found here as well as Turtles and Moray eels. Schooling fish such as Snappers, Fusiliers and Goatfish call Maya Bay their home. In the deeper parts of the dive you can find Leopard Sharks resting on the sandy bottom of the bay.
