Not only are the Gastropods the largest class of the Molluscs, they are also the most diverse. There have been nearly 35,000 living species and 15,000 fossil species identified, including spirally-coiled snails, flat-shelled limpets, shell-less nudibranchs, whelks, abalones, pteropods and terrestrial snails and slugs.
