Sweetlips - Haemulidea

Harlequin Sweetlip | Oriental Sweetlip | Magpie Sweetlip

Its thick, yellow lips give this fish the name of sweetlips, or rubberlips. Relatively inactive during the day, they congregate under ledges waiting for nightfall when they disperse to feed. They are mostly found in the western Indian Ocean. All of the Sweetlips undergo a rather dramatic change in appearance when they change from Juvenile to Adulthood.
