Phuket Aircraft Wreck Diving Trips |

After much preparation, bargaining, bartering and work, there is something new in Phuket for divers. 4 Dakota Airplanes and 6 Sikorski Helicopters are now sitting on the seabed off Bang Tao Beach on the west coast of Phuket, already surrounded by schools of fish and ready to be visited by curious divers.
The opening ceremony was held on the 29th November 2008. The Governor of Phuket, Dr. Preecha Ruangjai opened the "Wreck Dive Park" officialy to the public.
Dive trips are now available from Kamala beach several times per week by longtail boat, taking only 30 minutes to reach the dive site. Boat departure is 9am, returning around 2 - 2:30pm.
However, most dive centers here agreed that Bang Tao beach was a poor location chosen for political reasons and to make certain people feel big and important. And guess what? The wrecks are no longer there, washed away by currents, broken up, as many people predicted.
So, no aircraft wrecks any more!
