The MV Jazz is a fairly new mid price liveaboard, which started trips in November 2005 with a mixed schedule of cruises to the Similan Islands and Richelieu Rock, and some Mergui Archipelago (Burma) cruises. The price is a good deal, especially for the Burma trips. She carries a maximum of 16 divers in twin and double bed cabins. She is spacious (28m long) and well built, not luxurious but certainly very comfortable.

MV Jazz has a total of 8 cabins - 4 twin and 4 double. Two twin cabins are on the main deck, while the other 6 are below. Two double and two twin cabins have private bathrooms, the others have "semi private" bathrooms. All cabins are air conditioned and bathrooms have hot water.
 
There are 2 social areas - an indoor salon with TV and DVD player, and also an outdoor area, where meals are served. Expect the usual delicious selection of Thai food on this liveaboard - as on any boat in Thailand! In front of the wheel house you can sit and toast in the tropical sun. The dive deck is large and sensibly arranged, giving lots of space for suiting up. You won't get your buddy's tank in your face on this boat! Jazz also has a dingy (RIB) to enable easy pick ups after the dives. The dinghy can also take you over to some of the beaches in the Similan Islands or the Mergui Archipelago.

Scuba Thailand - Similans & Richelieu Rock
Departure day - Pick up around 15:00 in Phuket, transfer to MV Jazz at Thap Lamu pier. Cruise to Similan Islands. Note - dinner on board.
1st - 3rd Diving days - 4 dives per day*
4th Diving day - 2 dives and return to Thap Lamu. Transfer provided to Phuket, arriving at about 6pm.
Transfer from/to Khao Lak also possible.
*Dive sites are decided en route based on currents, weather, customer choice, big fish sightings etc.. A typical 4 days / 4 nights trip includes the Similan Islands, Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai and Koh Bon.

Mergui Archipelago
Departure day - Pick up around 09:00 in Phuket and 11:00 in Khao Lak, transfer to MV Jazz. 16:00 Immigration procedures at Ranong. Around 19:00 Dinner on board. Cruise to Burmese Islands.
1st - 3rd Diving day - 4 dives per day in Burma
4th Diving day - 2 dives in Burma, return to Ranong. Immigration Procedures. Cruise to Thap Lamu.
Arrival Day - Disembark in Thap Lamu. Transfer provided back to Phuket or Khao Lak.

Thailand & Burma
Departure day - Pick up around 15:00 in Phuket and 17:00 in Khao Lak, transfer to MV Jazz. Dinner on board. Cruise to Similan Islands.
1st - 3rd Diving day - 4 dives per day
4th Diving day - 2 dives, cruise to Ranong. Immigration into Burma.
5th - 7th Diving day - 4 dives per day in Burma
8th Diving day - 2 dives in Burma; return to Ranong. Immigration Procedures. Cruise to Thap Lamu.
Arrival day - Disembark in Thap Lamu. Transfer provided back to Phuket or Khao Lak.
