Phuket after the Tsunami - Photos

Phuket and Phi Phi, along with Khao Lak were in the firing line of the December 26th 2004 tsunami. Initially, to Sunrise Divers based in Karon beach, it seemed the damage was not so bad. See photos below. We were lucky really. Khao Lak was hit hard, Phi Phi too, and some parts of Phuket got it worse that Karon. The photos below show some of Phuket's beaches in the days after the wave, and pictures from a visit to Phi Phi, some 6 months after the tsunami.

All photos below by Gilbert and Jamie from Sunrise Divers. In Phuket right now you would not know anything had happened. Phi Phi is also looking good, though much work is still needed, and Khao Lak is trying to get back on it's feet. We hope to see you here in Thailand very soon.
