20th July 2007
Phuket has been mostly dry recently, and this week has had great weather. For much of last week, the wind blew and we had frequent, quick, sudden showers that were over before you had time to shut the windows, but last weekend things brightened up and the winds dropped. The Colona 6 Liveaboard had a 4 day trip in the Similan Islands this week with calm seas and sunshine - there's another trip leaving on the 29th July. Get it while it's hot! There's plenty of divong to be had in the summer months in Phuket - if you want to dive, send us an enquiry!
The photos below show Chalong Temple in the morning light. Chalong temple is the largest temple in Phuket and well worth a visit. You can get there in about 15 minutes from Karon Beach. The sun was hot this morning, even at 9am!

The last week or so Phuket has seen wind, waves, isolated showers (heavy at times), plenty of sunshine, a surfing competition at Kalim Beach and lots of happy divers. Meanwhile, hailstones in London and the LIVE EARTH concerts around the world to raise awareness of climate change. It seems that people (especially the English) have been saying "funny weather we're having" since I was a kid. But in recent years the spotlight has been on the weather and there certainly does seem to have been a lot of it about...
This morning, Kata beach was looking very nice. Not suitable for swimming, as is common at this time of year, but you can rent a surfboard or just enjoy the relative lack of crowds at this time of year.
