Phuket Weather - October 2004

Saturday October 30th

Hot days, cool nights (relatively speaking). Big full moon last night in the clear sky. Had a 30 minute thuderstorm over Karon around lunchtime today to clear the air.

Thursday October 28th

More of the same. High season is here. Winds coming from the East, weather is great. What's it like in England, I wonder?
Note : High season means we get busy - so this weather page may not be updated so often. But in the high season, you can count on nice weather 90% of the time, so there's not much to update!

Tuesday October 26th

Sunday was hazy and sunny. Bit of a wind blowing and looks like the wind is coming from the East now, so we are officially in the "high season". Monday the same. Hazy, hot and breezy. Tuesday less hazy, more hot, lovely day.

Saturday October 23rd

Very hazy today. No rain, warm. Some rain later in the night.

Friday October 22nd

No rain last night and today is once again a glorious day, though wind is picking up a little.

Thursday October 21st

Yes, you guessed it. Another sunny hot day. Seas are calm. Report from Le Mahe liveaboard that came back last night said they had calm weather in the Similan Islands all week.

Wednesday October 20th

More fine weather yesterday, though there was some rain in the evening. Today is once again hot and sunny. Beautiful day...until the evening when we again had a big thunderstorm and rain with minor flooding on the roads in Patong and Kathu. This lasted about an hour and was all over by 8pm.

Monday October 18th

Sunday another fine day, starting hazy early on, with the sun breaking out by mid morning. Some overnight rain again, and Monday sunny and hazy. You feel now that the "high season" is here. On Sunday, we went and checked out Bang Wad dam, where there is a big reservoir. It is FULL, indeed I have never seen it so full, so I reckon no chance of water shortage this season.

Saturday October 16th

It's hot out. Another sunny day, though there was some rain at night again.

Friday October 15th

Thursday another bright day with some light rain around lunchtime. But in the middle of the night there was a big storm and more flooding in Patong. Very localised, not much rain in Kathu, just 10km away, or Karon either. Friday is dry and sunny again. Oh! how I need a sunny Sunday to laze in the garden with a cold one.

Wednesday October 13th

Start of the famous Phuket Vegetarian Festival today.  A few spots of drizzle yesterday evening, but today is again bright and "partly cloudy".

Tuesday October 12th

Well, after the downpours of Saturday, the last 3 days have been bright, warm and mostly sunny. Just as predicted by yours truly. Great weather for diving this week.

Saturday October 9th

Really wet day. Heavy rain and minor flooding in some areas. Where's my ark? Wind less than yesterday. This is typical end of low season weather. By next week it'll be blue skies.

Friday October 8th

Awoke to rain and wind, sea looked bouncy, but can't be too bad - all boats went out. Rain stopped by lunchtime and started again late afternoon

Thursday October 7th

Today is a wet one. Not heavy rain, but constant. Sea is not too rough, but certainly not calm. Divers are out at Similan Islands already, though this is early season.

Wednesday October 6th

And the changes continue. Today started sunny for a few hours but steady rain by mid morning. Seas still look calm though. This looks like the tail end of the monsoon.

Tuesday October 5th

Another warm and sunny day. Weather is changing daily, which is typical for October.

Monday October 4th

Well, Sunday finally lived up to it's name. Lovely day (see photo below). Today is damp, light drizzle falling all day. Seas are still calm. The season starts about now. Some Liveaboard dive boats are starting this week.

Saturday October 2nd

After a rainy day yesterday, today is bright and sunny with a cool breeze blowing.

Friday October 1st

Last 2 days have been a mix of sunshine and showers. There has been some rain every day the last week, but seas are not rough.
