PADI eLearning – Start Now!
PADI eLearning was introduced in 2007 as a means for people interested in learning to dive to start at home. If you sign up for eLearning you can complete dive theory portions of PADI courses in your own time – you can access eLearning from any computer with an internet connection. PADI e-Learning is designed to be easy to use. You can complete sections bit by bit and eLearning will keep track of your progress allowing you to begin again exactly where you ended your studies. You are provided with a virtual/electronic version of the course manual which you can access any time you like.
After completing the theory you are ready to dive! You can use the sign-up links below to get started right now! You can complete the course at any PADI dive center anywhere in the world, though of course we hope that you’ll come to see Sunrise Divers! See below for courses available by e-Learning, and links to sign up at PADI.com, and for more information on the courses that we offer here in Phuket.
PADI Dive Courses – Start with eLearning
Open Water Diver
Open Water is where to start your diving education – the eLearning will take you through all the basic principles of diving with several quizzes and a final exam. The in water part of the course includes pool dives and 4 open water dives.
Advanced Open Water
The next step is the Advanced Open Water course. The online version includes knowledge development for the two required topics Deep and Underwater Navigation Dives along with five of the most popular elective dives. These include Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diver, Boat Diver and Underwater Naturalist. The full course also includes 5 dives.
Enriched Air (Nitrox)
Nitrox – the magic gas! Well, not really magic – learn the truth here! The PADI Enriched Air Diver course online includes all the knowledge development requirements for the course. You’ll also have unlimited access to the PADI Enriched Air Diver manual online for reference after completing the course. We can complete the course here with a day of diving with 2 or 3 Nitrox dives.
If you have not dived for while, naturally you may forget things. There are no hard rules on when you must do a review, but if you are a less experienced diver, a quick review before taking a dive trip is a great idea. The eLearning review online takes you through all the basic theory again. of course it would be a good idea to also do a tune-up in the water, but reviewing all the theory is a good start!
PADI e-Learning – More Information
How does eLearning work?
After you sign up, the PADI eLearning system is based on interactive web presentations including videos, audio, graphics and reading. You will take quizzes to gauge your progress, and you can review and correct anything you might not understand fully. This lets you move through the program efficiently and at your own pace. You complete knowledge reviews or quizzes and exams, the exact structure depends on the course. If there is still anything you are not 100% sure about be sure to ask your “in the flesh” instructor before you start with any in-water training.
How much does eLearning cost?
Important: The PADI eLearning courses are offered by PADI directly – course fees must be paid by credit card online directly to PADI before you can start the program. The payments are not refundable and do not cover any practical/in-water/diving parts of the course. You will pay more in total if you start with eLearning, but the payback is that you can complete theory and classroom work in your own time, and then head somewhere sunny like Thailand to get in the water! The current prices for eLearning registration are approximately: Open Water Diver 179 US$ | Advanced Open Water Diver 167 US$ | Enriched Air Nitrox 175 US$ | Scuba Review 65 US$.
