Liveaboards - The best way to dive!

At Sunrise Divers, we believe that liveaboards are the best way to dive, and the best way to reach the top dive sites in Asia. We are based in Phuket, Thailand which is the center of dive operations for liveaboards to the Similan Islands, Richelieu Rock and the Mergui Archipelago (Burma). The Similans have become very popular in recent years with boats to suit all budgets. Burma only opened to diving 10 years ago and trips still have a feel of adventure. Komodo, Indonesia is experiencing a surge of interest right now with a fair number of liveaboards available. On this page you'll find brief destination information with links to all boats.

As one of Asia's top independent liveaboard agents, Sunrise Divers carefully selects the best liveaboards in all price classes. If you want to experience the best diving in Thailand, Burma and Indonesia, you're in the right place!

Thailand Liveaboards

Thailand offers a huge variety of diving options and has become well known center for liveaboards to the Similan Islands, Richelieu Rock, Hin Daeng, Phi Phi, Tarutao and more. Liveaboards depart from Phuket and Khao Lak between October and May. There truly is something for everyone from backpackers to luxury divers. Trips range from overnighters in the Similan Islands to 9 day adventures combining diving in Thailand and Burma.

Many liveaboards run trips of 4 days / 4 nights, which is enough time to dive the best sites around the Similan Islands National Park plus Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock. There are also plenty of short 2 day trips which head south to Hin Daeng, Hin Muang and the Phi Phi Islands. Often you can combine the two, giving you a 6 day safari around the Andaman Sea.

It's becoming more common for liveaboards to have 5 and 6 day trips on their schedule, allowing extra time for exploration and time for some dives in the Surin Islands which offer some fantastic diving, but are often overlooked.

We hope to see you in Phuket sometime soon. If you have any questions about liveaboards in Thailand, please do contact us. We are always here to help!

Burma Liveaboards

North of the Thai border, a chain of islands stretches for more than 200 miles along the west coast of Burma. This is the Mergui Archipelago consisting of over 800 sparsely inhabited islands. Burma only allowed dive boats to enter in 1997, and the diving still has an adventurous frontier feeling.

The diving is a little more adventurous than the Similan Islands, and the liveaboards running these trips are all in the mid - high price range. You need at least 5 days for a Burma trip, and there are several boats running 8 - 9 day cruises combining Burma and Thailand. You tend to find more experienced divers on these trips. All cruises depart from Thailand, either Phuket, Khao Lak or Ranong.

Click on the liveaboard links for full information, trip schedules and photo galleries for each boat, or click below for a more detailed overview of all the liveaboard options in Burma.
