Similan Islands Liveaboards
The Similan Islands National Park is open for liveaboard diving safaris from mid-October to mid-May. Day trips and charter boats are also available during this period.
Liveaboard Diving Safaris to the Similan Islands
Liveaboard diving safaris to the Similan Islands primarily depart from Thap Lamu Pier. Divers are transported to the pier by minibus from hotels in Phuket and Khao Lak. Most liveaboard trips depart from Thap Lamu Pier, which is located near Khao Lak.
Our popular 4-night liveaboard diving safaris, with 4 days of diving and 14-15 dives, typically depart in the evening. Pick-up from hotels in Phuket is between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, and from hotels in Khao Lak between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Shorter 2-day/1-night trips with 7 dives and 3-day/2-night dive safaris with 11 dives depart in the morning. Pick-up from hotels in Phuket is between 5:50 and 7:00 AM, and from hotels in Khao Lak between 7:30 and 7:45 AM.
Similan Liveaboard Prices
Prices for dive safaris vary depending on the standard of the dive boat and range from approximately 4,400 to 18,800 Baht per night. The itineraries are quite similar on all boats; prices differ only due to the varying quality of the dive safari vessels. Larger boats with fewer divers and spacious, luxurious cabins are more expensive than more affordable boats with smaller cabins.
Onboard Dining
Meals: Generous full board, often buffet-style for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus snacks and fruit between dives. Beverages: Drinking water, tea, coffee, and soft drinks. Alcohol regulations may vary depending on the vessel.
Liveaboard Scuba Diving Qualification
On many liveaboard dive boats, divers with an Open Water Diver certification can dive. If your last dive was more than a year ago, you may need to refresh your diving qualification before your trip. Depending on your diving experience, you may dive in a group or require a private dive guide. It is recommended to have an Advanced Open Water Diver certification before embarking on a liveaboard dive trip. On some liveaboard dive trips, this certification is even mandatory.
